Hey folks
I've been threatening to launch my own start-up for a while now and the day has finally arrived.
I, along with a good friend and brilliant Ruby Developer have built a job site for Hackers. Nothing new or revolutionary there right? Possibly not but right now the vast majority of job boards for the Tech industry are just terrible and we aim to fix that.
http://www.hackerjobs.co.uk opens its doors for business on Monday the 26th of March.
This isn't just a shameless plug. We want to offer any UK based company (our initial offering is UK centric however we have a global option coming soon) an opportunity to advertise your jobs on our site free of charge for the first 30 days.
If you are a UK based employer and you've got a vacancy you'd like to advertise, email steve at hackerjobs.co.uk and I'll send you the form.
If you simply want to be notified when we launch, go to our site, ignore the hideous orange temporary landing page and stick your email in our box.
That's it. We'll post a blog on launch day about what we intend to do to drastically improve the quality of job boards as well as elaborate on why we think they are fundamentally flawed in the first place.

Would be great to integrate this WITH Hackful, so that the experience is more fluid. Fancy joining us at the HackfulThon on 29 April at Campus? http://www.meetup.com/Hackful/events/56306592/
I'm just about to graduate so I'll add this to the list of sites i'll be stalking
I upvoted this, but I'm curious to know why you initially limit the offer just to UK companies. I understand making the website just in English first, but that wouldn't stop most hackers around Europe (or their potential employers) anyway. Was this decision based only on marketing considerations? Or are there legal reasons for this?
Good question. Short answer: We decided to build the site for UK based employers & candidates first and foremost due to the lack of options for UK Hackers. Turns out there's a huge European demand.
Hacker Jobs UK is the first of many sites to be rolled out over the coming 12 months.
Thanks for the reply. So you're going to create a UK site, a German site etc? I personally think that among hackers there is already enough mobility around Europe, why not creating just one website where you can filter by country (if you want), and by required languages? You can just add localized versions later.
I, for one, could be a possible user if my current startup attempt doesn't work out and I'll have to start looking around for a job ;)
We are aiming at having one Europe wide site focused on developers with a big focus on remote working and a lot of transparency around educating employers on the European hot spots for talented developers. We will then have multiple subsidiary sites covering more specialist disciplines.
Good... and good luck :)
I second this. I am looking for a startup job in Vienna, but live in France. A site like this would help no end.
