What makes your city a good place for startups?

Which European city is now most Startup friendly?

Some of the often touted names are London, Barcelona, Munich, Berlin .. what do you guys think?

Just fyi, what I call startup friendly is this:

  1. Access to talent
  2. Friendliness in bureaucracy to start a company and run it.
  3. Culture of startups - find people who would consider being in a startup a good thing and encourage such attitude.
  4. Availability of funding

If you have a different idea, please contribute that here.

fyi. I am in Barcelona!

Is "startup friendly" the most important thing? I'm from Milan (which sucks at startups). Love BCN as a city, but the one place I'd move to for startups is the only place in Europe from which real innovation has come so far, i.e. Stockholm.

I guess innovation center is one, but what i meant is more ideal for doing startups.

Things I would value are :

  1. Access to talent
  2. Friendliness in bureaucracy to start a company and run it.
  3. Culture of startups - find people who would consider being in a startup a good thing and encourage such attitude .

Considering all the three points above, for a tech startup, Barcelona fairs poorly. Atleast thats my experience.

From the Etsy experience low rent is definitely high on the list! ;)

I am thinking now more and more towards Berlin. Soundcloud is also there.

If I had to bet I'd pick Berlin.
